About Me

I attended Emory University and Purdue University for my undergraduate

education. In 1997, I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from

Louisiana State University.  After an internship in Charleston, SC,

I moved to Pittsburgh, PA and completed a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh. I also started private practice work around this time.

In 2000, my life took an unexpected turn when my husband and I moved to Singapore where I worked at the counseling center in the American Club of Singapore. We then went on to live in 4 more countries: Thailand, China, Switzerland, and France. I was fortunate to have worked in private practices or clinic settings in most of these countries. In October 2013, we moved back to the US after being away for 13 years. What a journey!  Needless to say, I have acquired a lot of experience working with people from many nationalities and ethnicities. I was trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and am continually training in mindfulness-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have found the addition of mindfulness to be very beneficial to my clients, and to myself as well. I feel very fortunate to work in this profession and always learn something valuable from every client I meet. I believe individuals do not need to be "fixed" as much as they need to be understood and taught practical skills to deal with the ups and downs that life brings to all of us.

I have been married for 26 years and we have two children in college and a golden retriever.  In my spare time I like to play tennis, hike, practice yoga, cook, read, and travel. I lived in Franklin, TN for almost 7 years and in the summer of 2020 moved to NWA, Northwest Arkansas. In 2021, I moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL. I am licensed in 4 states, TN, AR, Fl and PA. Due to COVID 19, I am currently only offering online therapy.
